GOVERNMENT House has received a budget allocation of K10 million this year.
Acting official secretary to the governor-general Bill Toraso told The National that this was the first time that the Government had increased the budget for Government House.
Toraso said the money would be used to fund the ongoing projects at Government House that the Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae had introduced.
Sir Bob said during the dedication service yesterday that there were a few projects being implemented at the Government House.
They include fencing, housing, road project and the governor-general’s reception deck.
“After nearly 30 years, Government House will finally have proper fencing installed with security lights for the entire institution,” Sir Bob said.
“Work is in progress and is expected to be completed this year.”
He said under the housing project, there were plans to construct a duplex accommodation for staff.
“It is my wish and plan that three or four duplex accommodations be built before the end of the year.”
Sir Bob said the road project was the Dadae Track which would be built from the Poreporena Freeway and the bypass to the Government House.
