MINISTER for National Planning and Monitoring Charles Abel says the church-state partnership programme will assist the Government in delivering basic services to the people.

Abel said the Government was focused on delivering basic services and it had decided to improve the programme to involve a more clear and effective relationship with churches to do so.

He said the programme was a vital way to address issues in the country and in helping the Government deliver basic services to the people.

He made the remarks yesterday in Port Moresby during the presentation of funding to the Youth With a Mission medical group of Australia.

“We are working very hard trying to resolve the problem and in doing so, we need to accept the fact that the government is struggling to effectively address the issue.”
