Govt releases K37 million for rebuild of hospital
THE Government has released K37 million as its counterpart funding to rebuild the Boram General Hospital in East Sepik, says Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
He said the project would be launched early next month.
O’Neill said the hospital rebuilding was long overdue.
“It has been talked about for many years, not only by this Government but previous governments as well,” he said.
“There has been piecemeal allocation of funding to that hospital and as a result important services have been declining.
“So Government took a decision to rebuild the hospital like we are doing in other parts of the country.”
He said the Vamed Company, which was building a hospital in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, would build the hospital in Boram.
“I can assure the people of East and West Sepik that we will built a first-class hospital. I’m told that by the project developer. The project will be launched early September and I will visit Wewak to launch the project.”
