Govt slow to act

The National

THE public health emergency declared by the National Government for disease-stricken Menyamya, Wasu, Lae and affected parts of Gulf and Eastern Highlands provinces is in my opinion very late and an embarrassment in the international community.
It took nearly three weeks and many innocent lives lost before the public health emergency was declared.
It was a disaster in every sense of the word.
The vast majority of the people in the rural area are illiterate and basic hygiene generally poor.
The Government totally failed to see the writing on the wall.
This sort of lackadaisical approach by the Government must stop.
