Govt told to end problem in SHP

The Opposition wants to ensure there is no breakdown in law and order and has no interest in politicising current problems in Southern Highlands and Hela, says leader Patrick Pruaitch.
Pruaitch, in a statement yesterday, said the government needed to address the core issues related to last week’s arson in Mendi, a repeat of what happened after last year’s general election, to end a cycle of arson and destruction.
“It is disheartening to hear Prime Minister Peter O’Neill condemn the now sidelined Southern Highlands police commander Joseph Tondop for the commander’s spirited call for politicians to return to their province to listen to the grievances of their constituents,” he said.
