Govt’s KIPs a fantasy: Namah

PRIME Minister James Marape’s ministerial key performance indictors (KPIs) issued to ministers of his Cabinet is just empty talk and fantasy with no action, the Opposition claims.
The Opposition has also come up with performance-based indicators for the prime minister so he can be assessed based on his performance.
Spokesman and Opposition leader Belden Namah said to issue KPI and threaten to decommission ministers who did not perform next month was only a talk and a joke.
Namah said after the sixth Cabinet reshuffle in six months in office, the prime minister said more ministers were likely to be changed in December if they did not perform.
Namah said this was only a fantasy and it would bring more confusion and instability going into the new year. He said the prime minister was claiming that all ministers were being held to a set of key performance indicators, but the ministers saw this as a joke because KPIs did not exist.
“If the prime minister is saying all ministers will be judged on their performance in December, will he be allowing his performance to be assessed and he be prepared to step down by the performance if it was lower than expected?” He said the Opposition would gladly help prepare the basis of the performance review of the prime minister.
