Gr2 students make special visit to Cheshire Homes

Main Stories

GRADE two students from Port Moresby’s Kopkop College visited the Cheshire Disability Service to visit people living with disabilities.
The visit was part of the students’ community living and health class.
They took time to sit down with people being cared for at the centre including people living with disabilities. They asked questions and told stories.
Cheshire Home Early Childhood Care Education teacher Rose Ietero said they really appreciated the visit because they rarely had children as visitors.
“This is really good as you can tell from their expressions and smiles on their faces that they are really happy to have visitors because most of the time they hardly get visitors,” she said.
“One or two among them have their families come over to visit them and maybe take them over to stay with them for a while before bringing them back.
“Otherwise all the time they live here. The only families they have are the people working here.
“That’s why they are happy to see you.”
The students also donated toiletries to the centre.
