A TOTAL of 75,000 Grade 10 students from 394 high and secondary schools nationwide are sitting for this year’s Written Expression Examination today. Education Department secretary Dr Uke Kombra wants all students, teachers and provinces to give their best and to ensure that the examination are conducted fairly and to their best ability. He appealed to all schools to have their registration documents fixed with the department’s School Registration, because without proper registration, no school will be allowed for objective examination. Kombra also warned schools against any malpractices relating to the national examination. He warned of serious consequences that include non-certification for students, and termination from teaching for teachers and banning the schools for a minimum of three years. “I wish all the grade 10 students best of luck in their first national examination for 2021,” he said. Meanwhile, Grade 10 national examination coordinator Grace Moses from Gordon Secondary School in Port Moresby said yesterday that even though the students were affected by the Covid-19 lockdown, “they managed to cover most of the lessons”. “The lockdown affected us, we missed many lessons but we made it up by giving them handouts and assignments,” she said.
