GRADE 12 students in Port Moresby had an opportunity to view various programmes available in tertiary institutions around the country at an exhibition yesterday.
National Capital District guidance officer Elsie Tauye said students needed to know the expectations and requirements of the institutions before they fill in the school leavers forms or applied online.
Tauye said more than 20 institutions were taking part in this year’s exhibition.
She urged students to get as much information as possible to help them decide their choices.
“We currently have 21 schools in NCD and we cannot visit every one of them to disseminate the information,” she said.
“This is why we set up a career exhibition committee made up of secondary school representatives to organise the exhibition.”
Tauye said the schools sponsored the exhibition by collecting K10 from Grade 12 students. It will meet the costs of bringing representatives of institutions to Port Moresby.
Port Moresby National High School deputy principal, academic, Gevena Gwaibo said “previously students had three choices. Now they have five choices of tertiary institutions. It is important that they get all the information they need”.
