Graduates told to uphold dress codes

THE 464 students of the Madang Teachers College who graduated last Friday were told to uphold their dress codes as teachers.
University of Goroka Chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb reminded the students to always be aware of their conduct in public as a citizen or in the classrooms as a teacher.
“Always speak, read and write good English”, he said.
Kiritare Tau from Central won the dux award scoring a Grade Point Average of 3.99 overall.
The college will offer a four-year bachelor degree course and not a diploma in primary teaching.
The students were told how they could also use their teaching certificate to venture into “other areas”.
Sukwianomb also questioned why teachers were always getting paid late.
Momase regional education advisor Joseph Ouyoumb said it was due to a lot of dubious certificates being manufactured by students. It therefore took longer to double-check student records and transcripts.
“We talk a lot about quality education but we need to do quality checks (to avoid putting) con people (liars) on our payrolls.
“Previously, there has been huge number of fake certificates and transcripts of other people.”
