THE Sir Theophilus Foundation has awarded scholarships to 12 nursing students at the Pacific Adventist University.
Darren Young, executive director for the foundation, said nursing played a vital role in healthcare and needed to be supported.
A cheque for K58,382 from the foundation was received by the university bursar, Karo Matainaho, who was overwhelmed by the gesture.
The money will cover scholarships, tuition and boarding.
Upon completion, the students are expected to be employed by the Port Moresby General Hospital for a minimum of 18 months.
