“The government has allocated K200 million part of which would go towards the Grassroots to Gold programme, so plan your programmes and start using the money to prepare the potential athletes,” Subam said.
PNG Sports Foundation executive director Iammo Launa said her organisation needed all stakeholders to support the Grassroots to Gold programme.
“Everything is now in place.
“Organise yourselves and start carrying out activities to identify and develop our athletes,” she told the national sports federation representatives and the school teachers.
NSI director Edris Kumbruwah said his job was to conduct the programme and identify potential athletes and let the national federations nurture the promising athletes to become leading sportsmen and women in their respective fields.
Kumbruwah admitted that it was a big task and urged full cooperation from partners both internally and externally to ensure Grassroots to Gold Talent Identification programme is successful.
