Great Britain visit Butuka as part of community engagement

IT was a community engagement that had a bit of a hiccup but the Great Britain took it in their stride as they visited Butuka Academy yesterday.
The Lions had just arrived at the academy when their team bus, donated by China for last year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, got bogged down in front of the school hall.
It took the Lions, led by South Sydney forward Thomas Burgess, James Graham, Jackson Hastings and Chris Hill with the help of students, to get the bus back onto the road.
The team’s trip to Tatana was delayed for 30 minutes.
Burgess and St George forward Graham spoke to the students about the importance of health and education.
“It’s very important to come to school because it is through education that you will be successful and you can look after your families,” Burgess said.
“We all went to school just like you and we’ve tried very hard. It’s also good to enjoy sports. Eat three times a day, rest well, brush your teeth and train hard.”
At Tatana, the Lions visited the family of the late Kumul Kato Ottio, who played for the Canberra Raiders’ feeder club Mounties.
Former Raider Blake Austin and Canberra’s Josh Hodgson and Elliot Whitehead visited his home.
