PEOPLE mourning the death of former Kundiawa-Gembogl MP Peter Waieng bathed in mud to show their grief as his body arrived from Port Moresby for the funeral.

His coffin arrived on an Air Niugini flight at Kundiawa Airport on Wednesday afternoon as hundreds of people from all over Chimbu converged at his village to pay their respect.

People from his Narku tribe led the mourning. Businesses and government offices were closed when his body arrived escorted by Public Enterprise Minister Ben Micah. Schools were closed to allow teachers and students to pay their respect.

Meanwhile, his relatives are still not satisfied with the progress of investigations into his death.
