Grieving mum wants to see justice served
The National,Thursday 12th April 2012
SHE wants nothing else but justice to prevail so her son George Kasawen can rest in eternal peace.
Dorothy Kasawen from Central province and married to a man from Manus, had three beautiful children, two boys and a girl.
Little did she know that she would lose one of her children on Feb 2 this year when eldest son George went missing after the sinking of passenger ferry mv Rabaul Queen.
She told The National that her son had recently graduated as a teacher from Kabaleo Teachers College.
“He was on his way to Lae and then to the Highlands to take up his first posting as a teacher.
“He left behind his wife and three children to go and do something he loved doing – teaching.
“I talked to him before he left for Lae and I never heard from him again.
“I came here purposely to the inquiry to hear exactly what happened.
“I’m not here for compensation but here for justice to prevail so that we all can have peace.
“I hope this inquiry discovers what really happened so that all this survivors and their families can have a peace of mind,” she said.
