COMMUNITIES in Manus province are conserving their marine ecosystem and managing it sustainably.
That follows the establishment of the Manus environment community conservation network.
With it in place, the communities are now sharing their best practices in resource management and their experiences with fellow communities.
A two-day provincial learning and training network workshop coordinated by the centre for locally-managed areas met last week at N’Drolokou Primary School.
Participants in the workshop endorsed and re-enforced it as the hub for the provincial network.
It was established in 2007 as a learning network for Manus communities to promote learning and training among communities that are in the processes of sustainable resource management.
Programme coordinator Piwen Langarap said in Manus, the network was set up well before the learning and training network came into being.
