PAPUA New Guinea Women Entrepreneurs Connect (PNGWEC) has partnered with the Agri Assurance Ltd to make insurance products more affordable and accessible for its members.
PNGWEC chairman Esther Igo said during the agreement signing in Port Moresby yesterday that the partnership would enable its 5,000 members in the formal and informal sector in managing ever day risks they face in their businesses and lives.
“Risk management as a business discipline is not very well embraced by Papua New Guineans and most find themselves always at the losing end of a calamity or accidents and lose a lot of money to the point of some shutting down,” she said.
Igo said the partnership with Agri Assurance Ltd would add value to female entrepreneurs.
“We are excited about this partnership as this social insurance cover for our members covers products that are not traditionally covered by insurance companies through our assessments,” he said.
“PNGWEC is excited about this partnership and we are very pleased as this is a very strategic partnership in furthering PNGWEC endeavour to promote, facilitate and progress the agenda of economic empowerment of women in PNG.”
Igo said the initiative gave PNGWEC members, and other women entrepreneurs, an opportunity to expand and build their businesses with greater ease knowing they had insurance coverage.
