A WOMEN’S group in Chimbu is addressing issues affecting women in business and education which are in line with the Government’s small medium enterprises (SMEs) policy.

The meeting discussed recommendations for the 2014-17 implementation plans that will be launched in the province in June this year.

Simbu Women in Business interim chairperson Christina Tambake said the main objective was to empower and encourage women in both urban and rural areas in the province to advance in business activities.

“It is time for women in all the districts to help themselves through the SME initiative,” she said.

“Simbu women cannot sit and become spectators to economic development.

“We must step up and move forward because technology is increasing and women must contribute meaningfully towards the country’s economic development.”
