A GROUP from Eastern Highlands has embarked on advocating sorcery-related issues, tribal fights and education awareness in the province and the National Capital District.

Voice of Good Samaritan in Henganofi, Eastern Highlands, operates under the Seventh-day Adventist Church to carry out awareness on social issues experienced in villages and settlements in towns.

A 30-member group arrived in Port Moresby from Goroka last week for a one-week awareness, targeting Eastern Highlands communities mostly in the suburbs of Port Moresby.

Group chairman Deggar Kevo said many Eastern Highlands elites were victims of sorcery and payback killings.

“Our elites are our pride. They are the ones who will bring development to our districts and the province,” he said.

“Sorcery is real. Most people have died of it.

“We feel that we cannot stand idle and watch as the lives of our elites and families being brought down by sorcery-related practices. We have to protect their lives.”

The group held awareness in more than 70 communities in Eastern Highlands.

“Most of these communities have changed,” Kevo said.
