Group speaks out about issues

THE Our Club Soul Sisters women’s network organisation is advocating issues affecting women including widows.
Fundraising coordinator Kathy Pitz told The National that the women were from different backgrounds and professions.
“We are networking to assist widows and abused women in NCD. We also want to assist in supplying sanitary products for girls in high schools,” Pitzz said.
She said while the government is funding stationary products for the students, there was also a need to provide girls with sanitary projects.
Pitzz said girls in boarding schools and institutions needed help with these products.
The group was formed last December and had been meeting regularly to raise funds.
Last Sunday the group hosted a fund day event which coincided with the Fathers’ Day celebrations to acknowledge their partners and spouses for their support.
They brought dishes of food which they sold on that day to families and friends.
Pitzz said they would be visiting the widow’s association in Waigani next week.
