THE PNG Oil Palm Industry Association is urging to be part of the formulation of the new Oil Palm Board Act 2014.

The association said there was no consultation with stakeholders including millers and growers when the OPIC Act 1992 was put together. The association said as such, they have encountered issues to which OPIC Act 1992 did not provide for their solutions.

However, PNG Oil Palm Industry Corporation (OPIC) acting general secretary Leslie Wungen said there seemed to be confusion between the old OPIC Act 1992 and new Oil Palm Board Act 2014 which was being drafted.
