DIGICEL Foundation organised a daylong safety workshop for its partners and contractors in Lae last week.
The training was basic first aid and was facilitated by St Johns Ambulance Services and a foundation team.
The emphasis was on the safety of workers.
Foundation chief executive officer Beatrice Mahuru said the organisation cared about the safety of contract workers and it was paramount that they were aware of basic first aid, particularly when working in remote areas.
Chaperz Construction owner Charlie Tumun said the knowledge gained from the training would help in the work they were engaged.
“It is not usual for developers to provide training like this for contractors so this first aid training is very much appreciated,” Tumun said.
