An alleged marijuana distributor in the Ialibu-Pangia district in the Southern Highlands escaped after police uprooted plants at his home yesterday, police commander Chief Inspector Gideon Kauke said.
Kauke said the suspect was from the Kagua and had
allegedly been the main marijuana distributor for many years.
Police claimed he had been planting and selling marijuana and was wanted by police.
Kauke said Eastern Highlands Taskforce did a quick search at his sister’s home in Walume Imbonge district where he was staying.
“While uprooting the plants, police directed the suspect’s sister to shoulder the drugs to the nearby public place for warning and awareness,” Kauke said.
He said the suspect escaped while police confiscated the drug at his sister’s house.
Police also discovered the gardens where he was growing marijuana.
Kauke said police would investigate the matter and possibly arrest the suspect with his sister and her husband because police believed they were involved.
Meanwhile, a policeman suspected of shooting his wife, a teacher in Kagua, Southern Highlands, two weeks ago has been arrested.
