PROVINCIAL and Local Level Government Affairs department Secretary Dickson Guina has welcomed Government’s allocation of K3 billion to his department – around 19 per cent of the total budget.
“The Government’s focus now is on building capacity of the districts and provinces,” he told The National. “I’m pleased to say that in this 2019 Budget, my department has been given an increased budget to deal with programmes at the district level.
“I think it’s the right step to see things happening in our districts, so that people can participate in economic development.
“It’s good for the country and I’d like to commend this Government for that.”
Guina said the increased budget was a “real opportunity for the country to focus on where it mattered most”.
“Districts and provinces are where bulk of our people are,” he said.
“I think when we concentrate on these institutions, like provinces and districts, we will see that there is going to be real change and development happening in our country.
“This is not only in infrastructure but in all aspects of our development. I’m pleased that this budget is addressing these critical issues.”
