Guinness commends personnel

ASSISTANT Police Commissioner (ACP) Northern Commander Peter Guinness has commended his men and women for making their festive season police operations a success.
He said the personnel in their respective commands had played a major part in ensuring communities were trouble-free despite pockets of isolated incidences.
“I commend all my men and women for ensuring a peaceful region during the festive period,” he said.
“We ensured all public areas were free and easily accessible, roads and highways were secured, businesses were secured and crimes were prevented.”
Guinness admitted that there were instances of crimes committed which were beyond their control.
“This doesn’t mean police were not doing their part but those were isolated incidences and they were reported and attended to,” he said.
Guinness, whose command covers Lae Metro, Morobe, Madang and Eastern Highlands, said it was a challenge to provide policing services within the command, given the geographical and infrastructural challenges.
“However, this did not prevent police from carrying out its constitutional duties,” he said.
“Given the remoteness of some areas in the command which requires all forms of transport to reach out and we made it our business to attend to law and order issues raised by our people.
