Gulf Isou to face Central Dabaris in Digicel Cup round 11

SUNDAY’S Digicel Cup round 11 fixture at the National Football Stadium will see a local derby between the Southern Region’s PRK Gulf Isou and Central Dabaris.
NCDC Port Moresby Vipers take on visitors Enga Mioks in the second fixture.
The Isou, who are coming off a tough road loss to the Kimbe Cutters last week, have held on to fifth spot and take on a resurgent Dabaris, who easily accounted for the Vipers (32-14) last week. With rugby league between Origins, the Isou-Dabaris clash has the feeling of a Central v Gulf fixture.
Isou hard men Moore Evara and Benji Kot return to the fray and add the size and grit to the pack but they will have to contend with Dabaris’ Adam Korave, Buli Henao and Tommy Moide.
The pressure is on the Isou to make up for their capitulation to the West New Britons.
Isou coach Norris Selu said his side showed signs of being a genuine finals contender but had been surprised by the Cutters and they needed to refocus and play better football against a Dabaris side, who were picking up their own form.
“There’s nothing wrong with the boys but we just need to play smarter and work hard,” Selu said.
Selu said the game would attract a good crowd to the NFS and his side were primed to put on a show but would also be focused on putting themselves in the best position to win on Sunday.
Dabaris coach Chris Enara said the team had shown they had the attack and flair to score points but needed to be wary of the Isou who had beaten them earlier in the season.
Fixtures: Rd 11 – Sun, June 16: Dabaris v Isou, Lahanis v Muruks, Vipers v Mioks, Tumbe v Wigmen, Gurias v Tigers, Eagles v Cutters.
