THE Gulf Isou are wary of last-placed Kimbe Cutters heading into their round 10 Digicel Cup clash in the West New Britain capital on Sunday.
The Cutters have impressed over their last two matches after giving a good account of themselves in their 24-10 loss to the Gurias last week, coming off their first win of the season, a 15-14 victory over the Mendi Muruks, in round eight.
The Isou, who were beaten 12-16 by the Wamp Nga Hagen Eagles in Port Moresby last week, are eager to continue what is turning into their best season so far according coach Norris Selu.
“We are serious about this match,” Selu said of the game in Kimbe. “We have to get things right from the start and carry it through so we don’t get disappointed and get back into the winners’ circle.”
Selu said the Cutters had started to pick up form and were looking more comfortable at this level which meant the Isou put in another focused effort.
“We should respect them (Cutters) as they are hungry and have been playing better each week after a slow start to the season.”
Selu said it would be the first time for his squad to play in Kimbe and he welcomed the challenge adding that it would be a valuable experience for the Isou as they look to make the finals.
