GULF Komara bounced back from their 1-2 loss to Hekari United with a 3-1 win over Central Dabaris in round eight of the National Soccer League in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Komara had a slow start as Dabaris opened scoring through Ryan Gerega and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After missing multiple chances on goal, Komara forward Pascal Kundi equalised via a header from a Kenneth Arah penalty.
The equaliser was a boost for the David Aua-coached side as Tau Winnie scored their second goal followed by another from substitute Jordan Kaven to seal the win.
Komara assistant coach Steven Mune said they were complacent in the first half.
“Winnie sealed the game with the second goal but our first goal was important,” he said.
Mune said he was impressed with the performance of Winnie, who joined them during the mid-season transfer window.
“He’s underrated but he turns defence into attack,” he said.
“He has lifted our attack especially our finishing.
“He provided two assists and score a goal.
“He is an experienced player.”
Meanwhile, Dabaris head coach Kila Babaga said they executed their game plan in the first half but things didn’t go as they expected after the break.
“Our plan didn’t work in the second half, the boys didn’t have the mental capacity, maybe they underestimated the opposition,” Babaga said.
“I noticed that they were under the pump in the last 15 minutes, but we couldn’t convert our chances.
