Gulf man charged with having sex with minor

A 60-YEAR-old man in Manus has been arrested and charged with  sexually violating a primary school-aged girl.
The man from Kikori district, Gulf, was arrested and charged with sexual penetration of a minor at ward one of Lorengau town urban local level government.
Police said the incident took place on March 8 while the girl was walking home from the market.
The police report said the suspect followed the girl while she was on her way home.
He caught up with her some distance from home and offered her K2 and later tricked her into going to the nearby bushes.
The girl screamed for help.
Provincial police commander Supt Alex N’Drasel said the girl’s uncle, her father’s brother, heard her screaming from the bushes and rushed to check.
He caught the man in the act and assisted his niece home and later sent her to the hospital for a medical
check-up.
The girl’s family reported the suspect to the police and he was arrested and charged.
