Gulf man killed in NCD, suspect on the run

A MAN from Lese village, Malalaua, Gulf, was allegedly murdered on Saturday at Gabi village in the National Capi­tal District.
Police said Jack Kaia, a middle-aged man, was allegedly beaten to death.
Police reports said Kaia was rushed to hospital at around 10pm but died at 4am on Sunday as a result of injuries to his head and other parts
of his body.
Police said the motive behind the killing was not known and the suspect was on the run.
In another case, police said a Grade 9 student at KilaKila Secondary School suffered knife wounds to his body after he was attacked by another teenager at Samin Barracks in Sabama, NCD.
NCD metropolitan commander Supt Joseph Tondop said the incident happened between 2.30pm and 3pm when the victim, Michael Turicana, was heading home from school.
Police allege the suspect, Junior Pillie, 19, of mixed Chimbu and Milne Bay origin, stabbed Turicana and escaped but was later caught by police.
Tondop said Pillie had been detained and charged with attempted murder. He is in custody.
In another incident, a 15-year-old girl from Central was allegedly raped at Kanudi by a man from Hanuabada village on Monday.
Police allege the victim was fetching water at a nearby water tap when the suspect threatened her and forcefully had sex with her.
