Gulf people to raise funds

PEOPLE from Gulf living in Port Moresby will hold a fundraising event tomorrow to prepare for Gulf Day next month.

It is being organised by Gulf students attending the University of Papua New Guinea and other people from the province will be held at the Ben Moide Club, at Murray Barracks.

Organising committee member John Raga said the event as to raise funds for the Provincial Day to be held on Saturday, the November 30.

“The aim of the provincial day is to bring together Gulf people and celebrate their cultural identity through traditional singsing, cooking, art and craft and other traditions of Gulf,” he said.

The committee is calling on their three provincial leaders and business houses to sponsor the provincial day.

The family fun day will showcase live bands, merchandise like T-shirts, caps and bags.

“The provincial day will feature some of the most talented singers and artists of Gulf. It will include the crowning of the Mr and Miss Provincial Contest, which will give young people the chance to vie for the title.” 

The provincial day wil be held at the Ted Diro Primary School.
