Gulf police lack logistics

GULF cases to be investigated by police are piling up because they do not have enough transport, fuel or boats to do the job, their commander says.
Inspector Silva Sika said new cases were piling up on top of pending ones as police investigators were unable to travel due to lack of resources in Malalaua, Kerema, Ihu, Kikori and Baimuru police stations.
Sika said funds going from headquarters to the province were not enough to cater for needed logistics.
“The number of cases cannot be estimated but there are many major cases,” he said.
He said with all the constraint they were facing, they did not stop police from doing normal duties.
The main Malalaua station has no boats or dingy, neither do Ihu and Baimuru while Kikori has only one dingy.
