PREPARATION have started for a five-day National Court circuit in Kikori, Gulf, this month.
Kikori district development authority (KDDA) chief executive Tars Sauka said workers were repairing the Kikori local level government council chamber which would serve as a temporary courthouse from April 15-19.
He told The National yesterday that local MP Soroi Eoe, who is also the Minister for Youth Religion and Community Development, had sent him there with two truckloads of materials and fuel from Port Moresby.
Sauka said the team led by Justice Danajor Koiget, who is the resident judge for Western and Gulf, would arrive in Kikori on April 14 to preside on criminal and civil matters in the district.
He said Kikori government station was expected to be filled to capacity as people from Ihu and Baimuru LLGs, including those from within the Kikori LLG, flocked in to hear the court.
“In line with preparing for the judiciary team’s arrival, the KDDA will hold its first district management team meeting after 20 years in the district to discuss our development agenda,” Sauka said.
