GULF has recorded its first Covid-19 case in the past 24 hours after reporting none since the outbreak of the virus in PNG, deputy National Control Centre incident manager Dr Melinda Susapu says.
“We now have 20 province reporting Covid-19 cases (including Gulf) since the first case in the country was reported 279 days ago (about 10 months),” she said.
“Only Northern and Manus are without reports of Covid-19 cases.”
Dr Susapu said yesterday that they were still verifying where and how the person in Gulf was reported to have been infected with Covid-19.
She said the investigation could reveal important information on how the virus was spreading.
