Gulf to benefit from LNG project

GULF, one of the provinces in the country that will be impacted and affected by the PNG LNG project, is paving way to benefit from the multi-billion project.
This is through the development of an industrial park and a deep sea port in Kerema town.
Gulf Governor Havila Kavo told the people of Gulf in Ihu district on Independence Day that Gulf was one of the provinces hosting the PNG liquefied natural gas project (LNG) and the province should prepare to benefit from it.
He said the provincial government was preparing itself for it and asked the people to fall in line.
“You must prepare to work and participate in it and importantly provide your land for the developments to take place,” Kavo said.
He said the provincial administration was already in talks with potential developers of an industrial park with a
deep sea port.
He said Gulf was at the centre of Southern Highlands, Central and Western and Gulf would be a strategic location.
“We want big ships to off load and load big equipment and even the oil and gas to and from Gulf to Southern Highlands and to Central,” Kavo said.
