Gumine gives K1mil for tertiary students

GUMINE MP Nick Kuman has started to disburse K1 million in school fees to tertiary institutions that enrolled students from the Chimbu district.
The money was school fees assistance for students approved by the Gumine district development authority under Kuman.
“We distribute the money according to the list of Gumine students in each institution, including universities around the country,” Gumine district chief executive Daing Kil said.
He said 87 such institutions around PNG with Gumine students had been identified, list of students from the district in these respective institution were made available to the district administration.
The institutions include University of UPNG, University if Goroka, Divine Word University, University of Natural Resources and University of Technology.
“We are also supporting students attending private schools like ITI, Institute of Business Studies and Christian Schools,” Kil said.
The University of Goroka received K150,000 and Goroka Teachers’ College K57,000.
Other institutions yet to receive funds were Goroka Technical College and Highlands Regional College of Nursing.
