NGIP Agmark Rabaul Gurias started their training last week despite the Christmas and New Year break, with all the players set and focused for next season.
Gurias coach Micheal Marum said yesterday the boys were slowly starting their training sessions in advance for next season so they would be more prepared when the competition starts.
He also said England export Menzi Yere was also with the boys at their training session last week. He delivered some inspirational messages to his former team mates, as part of their preparations for next year.
Marum said the dates for bemobile Cup for next year are yet to be set. However, he wanted to make sure his boys were prepared for another challenge for next season to defend their title.
He also admitted he would be missing the services of electrifying Gurias centre Larsen Marabe, who is currently training in England.
He revealed that it now created another opportunity for younger players down the ranks and the new players who will be recruited from their development programmes to fill in the vacant post that Marabe left.
Marum also said he had put together a development program to scout for future players but it will now depend on their trials and other aspects of their preparations for next season.
The core of this year’s premiership winning team headed by captain George Moni, five-eight Dion Aiye and bulldozing forward Rodney Pora will remain as they lead the pride of NGI region next year.
The bemobile cup is expected to be another entertaining and exciting event for all franchise teams who will competing in the new year with players showcasing their talents for contention in the PNG Kumuls jumper for the four nation’s series.
