THE K1.3 million Christian Apostolic Fellowship (CAF) urban health centre at Wagpul village in Mt Hagen will be opened later this year.

Pastor Gabriel Bak and landowner Samuel Ropkil told The National last Saturday that its construction was expected to be completed by the end of the year. Ropkil said he gave the land for the clinic so that people could have a better health service.

“Mt Hagen is now the city and this clinic will serve the majority of the population in the urban areas,” he said.

“The Mt Hagen provincial hospital is crowded and this is a vital service.” Ropkil said he had 10 sons but still gave away the land because it meant “giving to God”.

He said Wagpul is located inside the city boundary at Warakum and Ramba Rot – less than a 10-minute drive from Mt Hagen.

Ropkil said the provincial hospital was crowded every day and the clinic would provide an alternative for the people.

He said the clinic is built by the Steward Construction and the building and staff houses are completed.

Bak said the CAF health service in the province was happy to see a new clinic to serve people in Mt Hagen and neighbouring Jiwaka.

“We are privilege that the clinic is built in our community and this is also opening the doors for other services to reach us,” Bak said.

“This clinic would serve plenty of people and the church was happy to work along to provide the much needed health to the people who needed the most.”
