PROVINCIAL administrator Malcolm Culligan says poor administration by the Mt Hagen City Authority resulted in the city being covered with rubbish.
Culligan went on the Western Highlands provincial radio station, Eagle FM, on Tuesday night and blamed the city authority management and general public for their careless attitude.
He said the build-up of rubbish in the city indicated there was a problem with the city authority’s management.
He said Mt Hagen was a central business hub of the highlands region but it did not look good when visitors saw rubbish piled everywhere in the city.
He said the rubbish portrayed a bad image of the third city in the country and appealed to people coming into the city to dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided.
Culligan said when people tasked to clean the city did not do their job, the general public must be responsible to dispose of their rubbish in the right place and keep the city clean.
He urged the people to use their commonsense when in the city.
