Hagen softball to pitch off

 THE Mt Hagen softball competition starts its pre-season this weekend at Rebiamul Oval.

The association, which has contributed two players to the national squad for the Pacific Games in July, is preparing to host another successful competition in 2015.

The players in the national squad are pitchers Annette Maradi and Terence Tirupia.

Games coordinator Sebby Tirupia said that five senior men’s and four senior women’s teams were confirmed to play.

Tirupia said the men’s teams were NGI, Radaaz, Brown Eagles, Gazelle and Pirates, while the women’s teams were Rovers, NGI, Titans and Pirates. A meeting was held yesterday at United Primary School to discuss the registration fees and duration of the competition.

“We are expecting Terence and Annette back this week.

“They’ll go straight to playing for their clubs so it should lift the competition’s profile,” Tirupia said.
