The Ipatas Cup’s Enga and Southern Highlands leg challenge will kick off at the Rebiamul league ground in Mount Hagen today.
It will be all action as witnessed in the past physical and aggressive highlands style of football.
The SHP teams are Mendi Wantok Trading Offcuts, Ipmana, Murumbu Naikos and the Giluwe Tigers while Enga teams are; A1 Brothers, Mitro Rangers, Akap Knights, Central Rangers, Tege United, Maip Muli Brothers, Porgera Nuggets, and Lau Rangers.
Port Moresby Lau Rangers president Jack Kari said from Wabag that his boys are determined to do well against the home teams.
Western Highlands will stage their grand final in Mount Hagen tomorrow between Togoba Magani and Kui Raiders during the Enga and SHP Challenge.
This was deferred due to time factor and spectator violence.
Digicel Cup franchises Enga Mioks, Hagen Eagles, Simbu Lions, Goroka Lahanis, Hela Wigmen, Mendi Muruks and Lae Tigers scouts will be present to recruit potential talents for their 2014 campaign.
Other Centers with teams already claimed their gold passes are Northern (Bumbu Barbarians and Tom Kune Trading Kamkumung Crushers), Southern (Six Mile Storms and Whitehaven Lagaip Brothers), E.H.P (GDH Brumbies) and Simbu (Sinesine Yongomulg Brothers).
The three centres remaining before the knockouts in Lae are Hela, Jiwaka and NGI in Kimbe.
Their challenge will be held in their respective venues in their provinces on March 13- 15.
Meanwhile CCIC CEO Timothy Lepa on behalf of Patron of the competition and Enga Governor Peter Ipatas thanked Bulolo MP and Deputy Opposition Leader Sam Basil for accepting the invitation to kick off and present the gold passes for the Simbu and EHP challenge in Lae last weekend.
Popular musicians Jokema, Serum brothers Lister and Amon will also perform live.
