THE business arm of the Western Highlands provincial government is the new major sponsor for Mt Hagen Eagles.
The Western Highlands Development Corporation took over as major sponsor from the  Bintangor Group.
The Eagles manager James Pini confirmed yesterday that WHPDC is the new sponsor after paying K50,000 together with K40,000 from the Eagles board to the bemobile board on Wednesday.
He said the Eagles were first to settle  their naming rights fee for the competition.
The club paid K40,000 while the balance came from the business arm of the provincial government under Governor Tom Olga.
Eagles board chairman Peter Bepi thanked Governor Olga on behalf of the management, players, stakeholders and fans.
Pini said an additional K100,000 is expected from WHPDC for player incentives and merchandise.
He said Bebi and his WHPDC Eagles board paid tribute to John Sia, the managing director of Bintangor Group for his support.
Meanwhile, the Eagles will have Kuri vs Paraka trials this weekend to select the final squad for the Eagles. Most of the players are young, very talented, selected from all seven districts through WH Governor Cup competition.
Both teams have been under intensive training session under watchful eyes of former SBS Muruks and Kumul fullback Rueben Riung (Kuri) and John Waka of Paraka training squad.
