A JOINERY shop for disabled people received a timely donation of tools for Christmas.
The Port Moresby Sheltered shop provides carpentry and printing training programmes for people living with disabilities in the city.
Since its establishment in 1970 by the Rotary club, the work shop has been conducting woodwork training for disabled people who shared tools.
BNBM came to the aid of the workshop after letters were sent out by staff and trainees seeking donations of building tools.
The company donated electrical and hand tools to support the training programme for disabled people.
BNBM PNG Ltd human resource and administration manager Torre Miria said the carpentry tools donated included electrical power tools such as circular saw, sander (belt and orbital), jig saw, plane, cordless drill and general carpentry tools, all estimated to be worth K4,500.
The Sheltered work shop’s assistant manager Joe Egi said the tools donated would go a
long way in training another 10 disabled people at the workshop next year.
The workshop makes coffins, cupboards and wardrobes sold at an affordable price.
