KAGUA Erave FC made it two wins from as many games in the Kumul Petroleum Holdings National Soccer League Highlands Conference on Saturday with a crushing 11-1 win over the Enga Laima at the National Sports Institute in Goroka.
Kagua Erave showed early signs of dominancy when coach Steven Mune’s weapon Jorden Kaven scored in the first minute.
He would go on to score two more goals.
Laima could not keep up with Kagua’s well-organised attack and the Southern Highlanders took full toll.
The Engans managed a goal in the first half but Kagua-Erave captain Neil Hans, pictured, led the charge with four goals.
The game was over by half time with Kagua Erave taking a 6-1 lead into the sheds.
Things did not get any better for the Laima in their second stanza as they let in another five goals through to be on the wrong side of the biggest score line in the PNGFA-sanctioned competition.
Papalau Awele got in on the action with a goal.
Coach Mune told The National his side were better after their first game and were looking to make the most of their opportunities.
“We have missed some opportunities last week and today’s game was the result of assessing those areas and then making the adjustments,” Mune said.
“We stepped up today and even though Enga did not give us a really tough challenge we played the way we wanted to.
“Neil (Hans) was really good. He was explosive and his footwork was impressive.”
Mune added that Kagua Erave created some of their own history by scoring their fastest goal – in the 45th second – but this was just part of their first season and every game was an opportunity to learn and grow.
“Jorden (Kaven) was a star for us today as well. He delivered when he got in range of the goal.
“Our business was to score and we delivered what we planned and trained.
“Laima tried hard and they have a good style but we were just had too much in the end.”
