CENTRAL Governor Kila Haoda has pledged K200,000 to improve health and education facilities in Inawabui village in Mekeo, Kairuku district.

He made this pledge during the recent opening of a new aid post and elementary classroom at the village.

Haoda urged the people to take care of the facilities and told public servants in the district to attend to their duties diligently, especially medical staff and teachers.

“I want to see teachers in the classrooms instead of hanging around at the provincial government headquarters in Port Moresby,” Haoda said.

“I have made education a priority this year, therefore, I am allocating K1.7 million for school fees for all Central students attending tertiary and pastoral colleges in the  country.”

The governor added that K100,000 would go towards medical supplies and furniture for the new aid post in Inawabui which, as one of the biggest villages in Kairuku, would also cater for neighbouring villages.

The other K100,000 would be spent on education with K70,000 going to St Francis of Assisi Primary School and  K30,000 for other school needs .

He also pledged an annual K5,000 from his pocket for school supplies for the new Kila Haoda elementary classroom.
