CITY Pharmacy Limited Group’s Hardware Haus presented merchandise worth K4,000 to a rugby league club in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, as part of the company’s support towards sports.
Mountain Souths received tents, umbrellas, t-shirts, rugby league balls, sport bags and a portable cooler from Hardware Haus national operations manager Kahmal Kishore on Friday.
Club president Barclay Koi said such support would help them develop good players.
He said the club, formed in 2019, was made up of youths who were keen on making a name for themselves in rugby league.
“Many young people are engaged in all sorts of activities which is why law and order issues are becoming a concern,” Koi said.
He said there were many ways that could help keep such people occupied and one was sports
“This is the kind of help we need to develop people, so they can help promote peace and create a safer environment,” Koi said.
“People need to be part of an organisation like a rugby league club where they will be taught discipline.
“On behalf of the club, I take this time to thank the company for its assistance.”
He said sports was an area that helped develop the younger generation in the country but support was lacking.
Koi said this was where the Government needed to step in.
He urged the Government to give more attention to sports to help address the country’s law and order issues.
