MALAYSIAN company Phoenix Builders Ltd has invested K5 million in a hardware shop at 8-Mile outside Port Moresby.

General manager Sam Loh said: “Setting up the hardware store is the first step to expanding our business … we have our plan to move into multi-business group.

“We will bring in more hardware products available overseas to provide  Papua New Guinea with more quality items at lower prices.”

The Phoenix Hardware shop was opened last Saturday and targets local building firms.

“Phoenix Hardware will focus its merchandise mainly at small building firms and do-it-yourself handymen.”

The 8-Mile area beyond the Jackson International Airport is the site of large-scale residential and commercial development where Phoenix Builders erected a number of homes.

“The location was ideal for his kind of business, which is aimed primarily at nationals that included do-it-yourself handy men and small maintenance companies because they would easily have whatever they need instead of driving into the city,” Loh said

“Developments are everywhere around the 8-Mile area … and as the first hardware store, we have the biggest potential … we will try our best to fulfil all customers’ needs.”

The hardware shop will supply power tools like the famous Bosch brand, hand tools, timber, steel, plywood and plaster boards among other items.
