Hardware store looks for pot of gold at end of Rainbow

BNBM Hardware targets densely-populated areas to give opportunities to customers to get quality products at their convenience, deputy general manager Chris Guo says.
He said this during opening of its 11th store at Rainbow, Gerehu, in Port Moresby on Friday.
Guo said the Government’s commitment to improve infrastructure in terms of feeder roads to alleviate traffic congestion, and inadequate accommodation for urban residents, had prompted the company to move to Gerehu and set up a new store.
“We call this our ‘convenience store’,” he said.
“It has hardware and home centre settings to fully service the whole of Gerehu suburb, including Rainbow area.
“Residents from 14-Mile down to 8-Mile can follow the ring road to Gerehu Roundabout and locate us, as well as Motu-Koita villagers from NCD, and Hiri-West villages of Central.
“Most of our customers coming to our Gordon stores from those areas have faced difficulties moving their stocks, due to high cost of hiring vehicles, congested traffic and longer walking distance from main bus stops.
“We have looked at all these factors and worked around the clock to find a prime location to set up a convenience store, which will service the people of Port Moresby and nearby Central.”
Guo said they were focused on building their customer base throughout the country.
He said they were also looking at other places in the country, where they had no establishments, to set up new branches which would benefit the people.
“We believe that competition may be high as existing hardware stores in the Gerehu area have already created their public relations with customers in Gerehu, Waigani and the nearest suburbs,” Guo said.
“In terms of pricing, services, quality and stock availability, we reckon BNBM has higher volume of stock, the best service, and good prices which will create a good competition.”
BNBM Hardware has four branches in Port Moresby, three in Lae, two in Kokopo and Rabaul while Kimbe and Madang have a hardware and home centre branch.
