HARLEQUINS rugby seven’s team prepares to prove its supremacy in this years’ rugby sevens tournament in Lae next month.
SCRUM’s Rugby Union development officer Robin Tarere has yet to set the competition date and game schedules.
However, Harlequins through its existing sponsor, Hornibrooks Steel Company in Lae dressed the Harlies with four sets of jersey including another separate set purposely for Seven’s tourney team all at the cost of K20,000 last week.
Hornibrooks maintains its confidence in sponsorship over Harlequins for its superb performance to prove as champions in Morobe’s rugby union.
Club Manager Jonathan Lokora said that in the past nine years since Hornibrooks came on board with the package, the players performed to expectation and proved their worth on and off the field.
He said that Harlequins have recorded six premierships in a row and have won three consecutive grand finals and are the current premiers of the SCRUM competition.
The seven’s tournament is an annual competition hosted by SCRUM which teams within Mamose and other three regions participate.
