Harmony Gold appoints three to leadership roles

Harmony Gold SE Asia has appointed Kepas Wali as the executive general manager, stakeholder relations and corporate affairs PNG.
A company statement said “Wali has extensive experience in both government and private sectors in PNG, with over 30 years’ experience.
“Having studied in PNG, Australia and the US, he has held executive leadership roles in PNG regulatory and government departments, including being the first managing director of the Mineral Resources Authority.”
Wali is currently the chairman of the board of PNG Ports.
Harmony Gold also appointed Gary Davies executive general manager operations in Hidden Valley.
Davis is currently its general manager.
He has led the Hidden Valley mine team for the past five years, delivering industry-leading safety results while successfully implementing the mine’s capital reinvestment programme and driving operational performance.
He has 30 years’ mining experience in Australia, Africa and Papua New Guinea.
Bernard Kavanamur was also appointed general manager, resource development and corporate affairs.
Kavanamur led the team of exploration geologists in Papua New Guinea which discovered the Wafi-Golpu resource extension and the Kili Teke Porphyry Copper Gold Deposit in the Hela.
He has worked in the exploration and mining in PNG for over 29 years.
Harmony Gold South East Asia chief executive Johannes van Heerden said: “Kepas, Gary and Bernard bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience. “I look forward to their contributions towards the delivery of Harmony’s strategy of producing safe, profitable ounces for the mine.”
